Accommodation

The Congress Hotel is the 4 star Ten Hill Place which is owned by the Royal College of Surgeons and is at  the venue.  The hotel has reserved rooms for the Congress and these can be  booked at a discounted rate until six weeks before the Congress. Contacts for student hostel and bed and breakfast are also listed.
Accommodation can be heavily booked  in September, and so early booking is advised.

Travel to Edinburgh

Edinburgh is well served by  air links, with daily flights from some 20 UK airports, many with budget airlines. Significant reductions in air fares are usually possible by early booking. Skyscanner (https://www.skyscanner.net/ )  provides a convenient site for comparing flight options and prices.

For rail travel early booking will often result in  much cheaper fares.  Useful sites for fare comparison and booking are:

Arriving by Train

Edinburgh Waverley Station is 10-15 minutes’ walk from the College. Exit Waverley via the Market Street opening. Turn right and then 1st left onto Cockburn Street and follow this steep street to the top. Turn left at the top of Cockburn Street onto The Royal Mile for 20 metres. At the traffic lights, turn right and across the road onto South Bridge. Continue along this route for 400 metres. The College is on the left opposite the Festival Theatre.

A Taxi to Surgeons’ Hall will cost around £4.00

Parking
There are metered parking spaces on Roxburgh Place, Richmond Place, and Chambers Street.

Ten Hill Place Hotel: Limited parking is available at the hotel and is available on a first come first served basis. The cost is £15 per day

St John’s Hill NCP: Ten Hill Place hotel has a discount scheme with NCP at St John’s Hill. There is a validation machine located in the hotel reception. Please bring your car parking ticket before going to collect and 10% discount will be given.

Mosque Kitchen: This private car park is located opposite the College to the South side of Nicolson Square. Parking is approximately £15 per day.

Each delegate will receive an  Edinburgh Rewards Passport free of charge. These can also be used by accompanying persons. The Passport offers discounts on various shops, restaurants, cafes and tours.  Further details here

Travel by Bus
Buses from Princes Street (stops on the side of the street lined by shops (the north side) are very frequent. Services passing the College of Surgeons include numbers 3,5,7,8,14,30,29,31 and 33. Note that exact fare is required (£1.60 for single trip; £4.00 for day ticket). M tickets for mobile phones can be bought by downloading the  Transport for Edinburgh app.
