Dr John S G Blair OBE TD KStJ FRCSEd (1928-2023)
The Trust was established in 1995 by the British Society for the History of Medicine and the Scottish Society of the History of Medicine. John Blair had been President of both Societies and had played a major role in organising meetings whose financial success led to the formation of the Trust.
Research Grants
The Trustees invite applications from undergraduate students in medicine and allied sciences throughout the UK for Research Grants (up to £150 each) to enable them to pursue their studies in the history of medicine. Such applications might include funding for travel, research fees, copying and any other incidental or enabling expenses.

Travel Grants
The Trust offers a limited number of Travel Grants (up to £120 each) to enable undergraduate students in medicine and allied sciences based in UK institutions to participate in the biennial Congress of the British Society for the History of Medicine.

Congress Prizes
In addition, the Trust awards prizes at the biennial BSHM Congress for the best oral presentation and the best poster presentation by an undergraduate student.
