Osler Travel Award for Research in the History of Medicine

The purpose of this award is to support medical undergraduates at UK universities who have an interest in the history of medicine, to travel to the United States or Canada to undertake research in medical history using resources available there which are not available in the UK or online.

The award is funded by the Osler Club of London, the History of Medicine Society (Royal Society of Medicine), the Hunterian Society, the Scottish Society of the History of Medicine, the Friends of Millbank, the John Blair Trust, and the British Society for the History of Medicine.

The first award, worth up to £4,000, is planned to be awarded in 2026, with applications being invited in the second half of 2025.

For undergraduate students in medicine and allied sciences based in UK institutions to participate in the BSHM Congress 2025.

JBT Congress Prizes
For the best oral presentation and best poster presentation by an undergraduate student at the BSHM Congress 2025.

The Hunterian Society

Hunterian Prize
The Hunterian Prize is awarded to a student or practitioner of non-consultant grade in medicine, including veterinary medicine, dentistry or a medical scientist on the basis of an essay on a subject of relevance to John or William Hunter or medicine in the 18th Century to be presented to a meeting of the Society.
